From indulging in vada pav to attempting the perfect pour of cutting chai with a piping-hot kettle and trying his hand at making cutlets, British YouTuber KSI embraced Mumbai in full desi style upon his arrival. The musician and boxer, who also serves as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, is in India for nearly a week, with plans to explore both Mumbai and Delhi. During his Mumbai leg, KSI is filming Try Not To Laugh IRL – India Edition, a series featuring popular digital creators.
Sharing details of his visit, KSI, whose real name is Olajide Williams Olatunji, said, “I am in India till January 12. I am meeting fans, creators, cultural leaders across sport, fashion, entertainment in Mumbai and Delhi. I’ve come to India to make some entertaining content as well as collaborate with some of the top Indian creators. India is like my second home so it made sense to come back to perform and create some funny onstage content with my Indian fans and my brother Deji.”
‘Getting introduced to vada pav was fun’Eager to immerse himself in Indian culture, he shared his enthusiasm for local flavours during a shoot with us, saying, “I am always a fan of experiencing new cultures.
Getting introduced to vada pav was fun. It’s something I definitely want to munch on. I struggle with spice and so while I am here I want to try spicy food. I hear pani puri is a banger. While Mumbai has been exciting I am also looking forward to visiting Delhi.”
Elaborating on his visit, he said, “The best way to connect with audiences from different countries is to actually visit the country. It’s fine to say that you like Indian fans, but if you’re never in the country, your words won’t hold any weight. This is my third time here.”
When brought up the subject of Bollywood, he said, “I would love to meet Shah Rukh Khan. I am inspired by how hard working he is as an actor and it would be an honour to meet him one day.”
‘I’ve seen loads of Bolly stuff, but am yet to watch a full movie’Talking about his exposure to Hindi films and series, KSI said, “I’ve seen loads of Bollywood stuff... mostly through clips, edits, and shorts popping up online. I’ve even reacted to a few. The action, the drama, the energy… it goes hard. I need to sit down and watch a full movie, but life’s been mad busy so I’ve not managed it yet. My boys keep sending me recommendations non-stop. One series my team told me about is B****ds of Bollywood, and it looks wild. So, that one’s definitely on my watch list when I finally get some time. Another is Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. It looks wild too.”

KSI with Shubman Gill
‘Shubman Gill is one of a kind’When we caught up with him, KSI was in the middle of a shoot in the suburbs with cricketer Shubman Gill. Speaking about the collaboration, he said, “When it comes to cricket he is one of the best. I have seen him play and hit sixes. He is one of a kind and I have made a good friend for life.”
